East Coast Kitchen Party was terrific I just felt the urge to write a little description of an event held last weekend at the David Thompson Resort west of Rocky Mountain House that exceeded the expectations of the crowd and left anyone who was not there with a simple “don’t know what we missed” feeling. Music is the language of the heart, however, add a couple of tin flutes, a bagpipe, a didgeridoo and numerous other Celtic instruments and voices that I can’t even describe, and you have language of the mind and soul as well. The bands that converged on the edge of the North Saskatchewan reservoir not only brought the forest to life, but made the fish dance in the lake, I am sure. From the soft and sensual to the loud and fast, these East Coast Kitchen Party bandsters had it all. If one or more emotions were not stirred in every one of the folks in the crowd on the Aug. 27 weekend, I will eat another lobster raw —just like the wonderful cooked ones brought in from the East Coast especially by the organizers for this first annual event. Congratulations to Ron and Wendy Killick, their daughter Kelly and the rest of the gang for hosting this amazing event. I only hope that the word gets out and they can’t handle the crowd at next year’s East Coast Kitchen Party. Randy Kaiser, Caroline, AB |
